Why it works this way
Many digital products are built to learn as much about you as possible, because your data is how they earn. Stillis has no such incentive — it learns about you only to serve you better, and what it learns is kept on your computer.
What Stillis processes
When you use Stillis, it processes:
- Your voice — analyzed into acoustic metrics (energy, rhythm, stability, tone). The audio is sent to a speech-recognition service to become text.
- Your conversations — the text of what you say and what Stillis responds.
- Optionally, expression and physiological signals from your camera — converted into behavioral and thermal indicators. Language patterns — the texture of how you speak, not what you say. During a conversation no frames are recorded; video is recorded only in the avatar setup.
What is kept on your computer
Kept in files on your computer:
- Conversation history
- Voice metrics and patterns
- Long-term memory
- Personal baseline
What leaves the computer is described below.
What may leave your device
When you send a message, the text is sent to a language model API — Claude by Anthropic — to generate a response. When it is temporarily unavailable, the message may go to the same Claude model through Amazon Bedrock, or to a smaller Claude model from Anthropic.
Your voice, while you speak, is sent to a speech-recognition service (OpenAI) to be turned into text. The text of the replies goes to a speech-synthesis service (ElevenLabs).
What Stillis does not do
- Does not sell your data.
- Does not build advertising profiles.
- Does not keep the content of your conversations on our server.
- Does not record video during conversations.
- Does not keep voice recordings except from the avatar setup.
Your control
You can delete conversations one by one from the archive, or everything at once with “Start over” in the archive. What the providers keep under their own rules is not in our hands.
FAQ
Does Stillis record me constantly?
No. Stillis only listens when you actively start a conversation or a recording session.
Does it store my voice?
During a conversation your voice goes to a speech-recognition service to become text. Recordings are kept only if you set up your own voice for the avatar.
Can I delete my data?
Yes. From within the application at any time.
Is the camera always active?
No. The camera is used during a conversation and during the avatar setup. It is also opened briefly when Stillis starts, only to check that one is connected; nothing is kept from that. If you have a thermal camera connected, it is used only during a conversation. The app has no switch for the camera; you can block its access in your system settings.
Does it need internet?
Yes. The language model, speech recognition and speech synthesis are online services.
Who can see my data?
Your conversations are on your computer. We do not receive their content; the providers named above receive what is needed to answer you.
What happens if I uninstall?
Before uninstalling, choose “Start over” in the archive to delete everything, including your voice at the speech-synthesis service.
